The Net

THE WORLDTECHNOLOGY

Often seen as an ever-present technical construct binding devices of all kinds, The Webs digital pathways and architecture is even more incomprehensible when you attempt to measure its limits. Each byte of data adds new blocks, sprawling further and further out from the original block of source code, the Nexus. If you consider this from the perspective of virtual reality, you can see the highly energized information super highways spanning outwards, and digital skyscrapers programmed by corporations that mirror and even dwarf their real world counterparts. Its for this reason, that the act of connecting to The Web through neural link, and interacting in 3D space has coined a different name...

The Net.

This metaphor is well deserved, given the addicting nature this virtual landscape presents. Often entrapping users with allure and power fantasy, some Animals have been known to live out the entirety of their lives in this completely virtual space. Those of the underground venture into The Net with purpose, and sparingly, for its dangers extend beyond the digital realm. With a direct neural uplink to The Net, the body's nervous system is unable to tell what is real and not real. If you die in The Net, you die in real life.

The Net has grown considerably and outward from the Nexus. And while it has gained continual development by Corporations over the years, It's origins are an enigma. Some even speculate that the original idea for The Net comes from Old Kingdom mythology, which talked of a great network that connects all living things, from the trees to the animals that occupy them, allowing you to communicate telepathically.
