One of the most vital tools for The Underground, Dead Drops are the network of off grid, solid state codes used to transfer messages, agendas and even recruit members. These dead drops are posted throughout the city, usually in discrete locations that typically harbor Underground activities. Alleyways, tunnel entrances as well as forsaken buildings and structures are ideal locations for a dead drop.
The codes are printed on photonic vinyl paper, that easily sticks to any surface and can brave the elements. Data is stored directly on surface and can be encrypted with key codes in order to maintain security of data. Simply scanning with a native wrist comp will holotransfer the data to your local system. This tech is often overlooked by the corporations but serves great purpose to the Underground while conducting Operations.
As mentioned before, the underground also uses Dead Drops to recruit new members in what they call "Guerrilla Marketing". Attempting to recruit new initiates through subterfuge and mainly curiosity. Animals wandering around the city might find themselves in an area and happen across a Dead Drop. But an even smaller percentage of those would scan these codes for fear of viruses and such mayhem. This attempt at low key advertising is meant to draw in only the most curious and adventurous animals, ones more likely to align with the collectives goals. Chances are you have walked by a dead drop, and never even known it...
